The 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt sedan gets more standard horsepower and adds some new features. Chevy's compact car comes as a 4-door sedan in 4 trims: LS, LT1, LT2, and the performance-oriented SS Supercharged. The SS sedan is new for 2009. The Cobalt LS and LT receive a 155-hp 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine. The SS has a turbocharged 260-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. All Cobalt trims are teamed with a standard 5-speed manual transmission; a 4-speed automatic is optional on the LS and LT. The Cobalt LS achieves 25/37 mpg (city/highway) (manual) and 24/33 mpg (city/highway) (available automatic). The Cobalt 1LT achieves 25/37 mpg (city/ highway) (manual) and 24/33 mpg (city/ highway) (available automatic). The Cobalt 2LT EPA is estimated at 24/33 mpg (city/highway) (automatic). EPA is estimated at 22/30 mpg (city/highway) on the Cobalt SS. |

Among the newly available features on the 2009 Cobalt is a wireless cell phone link and a USB port for controlling iPods.
