Overview |
The 2009 Chevrolet Colorado was introduced for the 2004 model year. It is available in Standard Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab versions. Extended Cab and Crew Cab models get four doors. Regular and Extended Cab models have 6-foot cargo beds; Crew Cab models get a 5-foot box. For 2009, 16-inch wheels are standard on Work Truck models, and LT models are now available with 16, 17, or 18-inch wheels; Satellite radio is standard on LT models; also newly available on V8 models is a re-tuned version of the ZQ8 sport suspension package which includes 18-inch wheels, performance tires, and unique upholstery. All Colorado trims offer rear-wheel drive or part-time 4-wheel drive with a low-range gear for off-roading. Chevy offers the best coverage in America with a 100,000 mile/5-year fully transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty, plus Roadside Assistance Program and Courtesy Transportation Program. |
Power and Performance |
Most Colorado trims get a standard 185-hp, 2.9-liter, 4-cylinder engine. 4WD Crew Cabs are equipped with a 242-hp, 3.7-liter, 5-cylinder standard engine which is optional on other Colorado trims. Extended and Crew Cab models have a 300-hp, 5.3-liter, V8 engine available as an option. Four-cylinder models are available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission; five-cylinder and V8 versions get the automatic transmission only. When the Colorado is fully equipped, its maximum towing capacity is 6000 lb. |
Body and Styling |
The Chevrolet Colorado comes in three trim levels: Regular Cab, Extended Cab and Crew Cab. The Regular Cab features cruise control; color-keyed bumpers; fog lamps; standard bed-liner; 60/40 split-bench front seat; air conditioning; ebony carpeting and vinyl floor mats; color-keyed grille surround and center bar; chrome-trimmed interior accents; deep-tinted rear window; leather-wrapped steering wheel; XM Radio with three trial months; AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player; driver and front passenger air bags; StabiliTrak with traction control; OnStar with one-year Safe & Sound Plan; and new 16-inch aluminum wheels. Extended and Crew Cab models add varying levels of standard equipment in Work, LS, and LT versions. |
Safety Features |
Safety features include ABS, an antiskid system, traction control, and curtain side airbags. Optional equipment includes an off-road suspension, sunroof, and leather upholstery. |
