Overview |
The 2009 Chevrolet Impala is a large midsize sedan that seats up to six passengers. Available in LS, LT, LTZ, and SS trims, the 2009 Chevrolet Impala is a full-size front-wheel drive sedan that provides good comfort, convenience, power, and performance. |
Powertrain and Performance |
A 211-hp, 3.5-liter, V6 engine, which is also available in an E85-capable version, powers the LS and LT trims. A 233-hp, 3.9-liter, E85-capable V6 engine is standard on the LTZ trim. It is optional on the LT trim. The SS trim is equipped with a massive 303-hp, 5.3-liter, V8 engine with Active Fuel Management. All trims come with a four-speed automatic transmission.
E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The E85 ethanol fuel is a cleaner-burning fuel made from renewable, organic resources that help keep the environment clean.

Body and Styling |
The 2009 Chevrolet Impala is a carryover from 2008. Front bucket seats; front, side, and side curtain airbags; AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 player and auxiliary audio input jack; XM radio; driver information system; dual-zone air conditioning with driver and front passenger temperature controls; and air filtration are some of the standard equipment.
Leather upholstery and remote engine start are the other available features. The LTZ models come standard with sport suspension, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. The SS models have a specific sport suspension and new 18-inch wheels. A wireless cell phone link is newly standard on the LT 3.9, LTZ, and SS.

Safety features |
The 2009 Chevrolet Impala earned the highest possible US government test rating, five-star, from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for driver and front passenger frontal crash test.
Some standard safety features include airbags: dual-stage, frontal, driver and front passenger, head-curtain side-impact, front and rear outboard seating positions; and Passenger Sensing System; powerful four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic traction control; and OnStar facility.
