2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Overview

The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a full size pick-up available in WT, LS, LT, and LTZ trims. The WT and LT trims are available in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab models. The LTZ is available in Extended and Crew Cab models, while the LS comes in only Crew Cab models.

Engine and Performance

There are five engine sizes to choose from: 195-hp 4.3-liter V6, 295-hp 4.8-liter V8, 315-hp 5.3-liter V8, 6.0-liter V8, and 403-hp 6.2-liter V8. There are two transmissions available: a four-speed automatic and a six-speed automatic. This year a new 6.2L FlexFuel engine is also available.

Body and Styling

Unique front fenders; grille, bumpers; headlamps; cargo box and tail lamps; wide rear-door opening on Extended Cab models to load passengers and cargo; chrome bumper (LT); body-colored bumper (LTZ); 17-inch painted-steel, 18- inch chrome styled-steel, and 20-inch chrome-clad wheels; AM/FM stereo with MP3-compatible CD player; AM/FM stereo with MP3-compatible in-dash six-disc CD changer (optional); Bose speaker system (optional/standard); DVD entertainment system (Crew Cab models only); touch-screen navigation radio; and an XM radio with three trial months are some of the features on the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck line-up.

The available dealer-installed Chevy accessories include 20-inch wheels; personal audio link; Cat-Back Exhaust system; chrome fuel door; tilting, hard tonneau cover; and tubular assist steps.

Safety features

Air bags (driver and right-front passenger, with Passenger Sensing System); brakes (four-wheel antilock with Dynamic Rear Proportioning); OnStar (with one-year Safe and Sound Plan); and StabiliTrac Electronic Stability Control System (WT models require V8 engine) are some of the standard safety and security features on the Chevy 1500. Head-curtain and side-impact air bags are optional on LT and LTZ models.
